10AM to Noon
Planting of Native Seaside Goldenrod Near the Shoreline
Have an hour or 2 to donate to the Sanctuary? We will clear small patches of invasive plants, to plant a native shoreline plant. Please bring work gloves if you have them. All other supplies will be provided. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Fall Seining
Saturday, October 12
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Today is the final fall seining session at Read Sanctuary. Catch salt water creatures close in the Long Island Sound with a 25-foot seining net. Fun for kids of all ages (including adults). Please dress to get wet.

Friends of Read Annual Meeting

Fall is in the air, and it’s time again for our Friends of Read Wildlife Sanctuary Annual Meeting.
Join us on Saturday, October 19 to hear how the year has progressed at the sanctuary and to share a complimentary lunch. Meeting will be held in the Visitor Center.

All Creatures Small, All Trees Tall

As Autumn becomes in full swing, we will see the change of the guard through the tree leaves and their surroundings. Come learn the secrets of the seasons. Hand lenses will be provided.
