PLAYLAND is Open For The Season! *

Playland is open for the season and its parking lot gates are officially closed during hours of operation.

*For a calendar of Playland’s hours of operation (and thus, the hours you will find the parking gates closed), please visit their website: https://playland.com/plan-your-visit/park-calendar/

For the month of June, the gates into the Sanctuary will be closed on weekends only (during Playland’s hours of operation*). Until further notice, you can expect the gates to be open when Playland is closed.  When the gates are open, you do not need your membership card. But now is the time to begin using the Sanctuary’s gate at Lane 5 (and stop using the bus entrance).

If your card does not work at the gate, please be patient and email friendsofreadws@gmail.com  We can fix your card problem remotely. Do not throw away your card.

Please know that if you registered after May 20th there is a delay in getting your card. As soon as Playland provides us with the membership cards we mail your membership card immediately.  In the meantime use Lane 5 and be sure to tell the gate attendant that you are a member, they have been instructed to let you through.

Plus… –

Shoreline Restoration Project has begun –

You’ll notice construction vehicles and equipment in the grass field just outside the sanctuary gates. A Living Shoreline is being constructed to increase the resiliency of our shoreline while also improving habitat for wildlife. Once the project is complete, the grass field will reopen. Projected completion date is expected for Sept 2025.

We will continue to update our members with important information as we learn it. Thank you for your patience!
