Volunteer Work Project
Clearing of Invasive and Other Undesirable Plants from the Fresh Water Pond
Saturday, Nov 23 –
10am to Noon
Help keep the existing Native Plants active by removing the plants from the pond that do not belong there. Please bring work gloves. All other supplies will be provided. Meet at the Visitor Center.

A Late Look at the Invasives and Tree Pruning!

One of the best times to control vegetation is, surprisingly, now. Many plant species are in a period of dormancy. Please bring work gloves. Hand tools and demonstrations are provided.

Submit Photography and Artwork for Read Photography and Art Exhibit

People can submit photographs and other artwork of Wildlife and Natural Landscapes. Photographs and artwork must be framed and wired for hanging. One photograph/art piece per person please!
3rd Annual Photography and Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Saturday, December 14 –
1:00 – 4:00 pm
Come and view peoples’ talents and love for wildlife photography. Refreshments will be provided. Exhibit will be on display through January 25th, 2025.
Edith Read Living Shoreline Field Trip with NY Sea Grant
December 6
11:00am – 1:30pm
Join NY Sea Grant as they visit the newly constructed living shoreline at Edith Read Sanctuary in Rye, New York. Project leaders from the Westchester County Planning and Parks Departments will guide a tour of the site and share behind-the-scenes project details. Lunch will follow where you will have the opportunity to engage in discussions with local nonprofit and community leaders. This field trip is part of a Community Resilience Project Showcase leading up to their 2024 Annual Sustainable and Resilient Communities Workshop on December 10 and 11.
