Friday’s rain caused flooding throughout the area. Playland’s parking lot was closed on Friday and the sanctuary visitor center will remain closed on Saturday.
We apologize if you tried to enter the sanctuary on Friday only to find the parking lot into Playland closed. We are not always informed when such closures happen unexpectedly.
The sanctuary’s many residents were quite happy with the solitude after the rains. Rabbits, deer, birds and a shy groundhog all greeted me Friday evening while I investigated the storm’s effects. While the trails were very soggy and the roadways flooded, there seems to be no lasting damage.
